Why are African Americans more likely to have sickle cell anemia than other American groups? - sickle cell anemia more condition_symptoms wikipedia
Why do people do such act, is a question of racism?
It has been shown that this disease is more common among the black population.
taken from a website:
Researchers have discovered that the gene for sickle cell anemia, particularly prevalent in areas of Africa most affected by malaria. In some regions up to 40 percent of the population has at least one gene for HBS.
It seems that in these areas, firms have been HbS natural selection, because the train transmits a certain resistance against malaria. Their red blood cells with abnormal hemoglobin, tend to sickle when infected by the malaria parasite. These infected cells can flow through the spleen, have made the sacrifice because of their sickle shape - and the parasite is eliminated with them.
Scientists believe that the gene for sickle cell disease appeared and disappeared in the population several times, but was permanently established after a particularly vicious form of transfer of disease from animals to humans in Asia, Middle East and Africa.
